about
Doomocracy - Ludic plains of Ra
lyrics
On solar ships he rides bringer of light, the burning falcon's path to eternal life
Creator of mankind of earth and sky he spoke the name of truth cried tears of life.
Woe, to him who fights the night, for selfish beings of spite
Oh betrayed by the spawn of his soul
The fates of creators unfold
We claimed all the plains of his light
And banished him into the night
Bestowed the gift of life, to a lesser kind, his deeds became the right of fiends so blind
The cradle of man's might, false hope and pride, the ape became a god, the god a lie
Woe, to him who fights the night, for selfish beings of spite
Oh betrayed by the spawn of his soul
The fates of creators unfold
We claimed all the plains of his light
And banished him into the night
In terror and in flight the soul it cries, a savior it must seek, in shadows hides
The path of Ra in shame it strives to find, the name is changed alas the lie abides
Woe, to him who fights the night, for selfish beings of spite
Oh betrayed by the spawn of his soul
The fates of creators unfold
We claimed all the plains of his light
And banished him wondering why
Is man as a being so cruel?
To make gods and use as a tool
To walk in the plains of his light
Yet dwell endlessly in the night

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
